CONTROVERSY and SCANDAL of the Ambassador’s MURDER in Runda, Nairobi

Wednesday, August 15, 2012 - A couple of weeks ago the murder of Venezuela diplomat at her Runda home stirred controversy and still remains unresolved. The diplomat Olga Fonseca had been in the country for only two weeks after she replaced Da Silva who had been accused of harassing male employees sexually.

The Consular’s first secretary Dwight Sagaray was the following day arrested and his friend and house mate sought by police on the allegations that he may be having crucial information regarding the murder.

An arrest warrant for Doctor Ahmed Mohammed Hassan was issued but he has since then been in the hiding despite police’s frantic efforts to find him. Police have since then followed many false leads the most recent being that of a female friend who was suspected to be providing him with shelter.

Apparently a local daily the star newspaper claims that they have been in contact with the doctor and have had an exclusive interview with him. In their statement diplomatic police officers ordered him to lay low after the murder.

Police in the unit have however dismissed the allegations and ordered the newspaper to publish the names of the officers hiding the doctor because they are committing an offense and should be arrested.

According to the STAR the doctor claims that the unit officers have all his contacts and he is ready to talk with them if they contact him. He further has dismissed the allegations that he used the diplomatic vehicle on the night of the murder or entered the home of the diplomat on that night.

Ahmed said he went out with friends at Nairobi’s up market Westlands area where he spent the night. He also confirmed that his friend Saragay arrived at their Runda home at 7 p.m. and did not leave.

He further confirmed that some of the diplomatic officials at the office were using their diplomatic privileges to ferry drugs into the country and also spread them to other regions.

Saragay was recently charged with the murder of the diplomat but denied the charges, yesterday he appeared at a court in Nairobi and requested the court to release him on bond since he is a student at University of Nairobi pundertaking masters in Law and his examinations are set for September 3 and he needs to study.

He also informed the court that he got bills to pay that he cannot pay while in custody.

Two securex security officers charged alongside him are expected in court on August 27 when their case will be heard.
