CLINTON (US) wants me and UHURU locked - RUTO

Tuesday August 7, 2012 - Eldoret North MP William Ruto on Monday made a shocking revelation that United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wants him and Uhuru locked out of vying for presidency in the upcoming general elections.

Speaking in Meru during his final day tour of the region, Ruto said Mrs Clinton was forcing President Mwai Kibaki to lock Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and him in vying for the presidency in the upcoming poll.

On Monday, Ruto said that the United States should keep off from local politics.

“The United States Secretary of State has told the government that Mr Kenyatta and I are not supposed to run. She has also hinted that America will impose sanctions on us if we participate in the polls and win. This is dictatorship,” Ruto said.

He told Mrs Clinton to stop dictating Kenyans how they should conduct their elections as doing so demonstrated supreme arrogance.

“When she visited Chief Justice Willy Mutunga at the Supreme Court and commented on the ICC cases involving us, she was clearly interfering,” Ruto said.

Ruto maintained his innocence on the ICC saga, saying he was framed by their political enemies.

“We did not finance any chaos or beatings in the 2007 polls. We were framed by those who felt we were a force to reckon with,” Ruto said.

He said they will team up with Uhuru to prove their enemies wrong when they clinch the presidency in the upcoming elections.

Ruto said him and Uhuru have the support of the masses and it will be nonsensical for Clinton to oppose the wishes of the Kenyans.
