Waititu denies incitement charges

Water assistant minister Ferdinard Waititu was arrested twice Thursday to answer to charges of incitement.
In the first incident, Waititu was arrested Thursday morning while leading a group of youths to block demolition at Umoja estate to face charges of a crime he committed in 2010.
He is accused of inciting residents of KPA estate in Embakasi on 13th December 2010 to protest evictions and throw stones at the police.
He appeared before Chief Magistrate Esther Maina and pleaded not guilty. The assistant minister was released on 100 000 shillings cash bail.
Waititu was charged alongside Patrick Mulili who did not take a plea and the case will be heard on 3rd May.
The Embakasi legislator was immediately re-arrested by detectives soon after his release to face fresh charges over Thursday's incident where he tried to block demolitions allegedly on road reserve at Umoja estate.
A police officer was seriously injured after a group that was in the company of Waititu stoned him in the head.
The MP was taken to Nairobi Area police station where he was later released on a free police bond.
Speaking to journalists after his release, Waititu said he will not relent on his efforts for fight for his constituents.
