The Mwea East district commissioner accused of slapping a schoolboy will be charged with assault, a senior detective investigating the case has said.
The incident has triggered protests from both political and religious leaders.
Area criminal investigations boss Gabriel Fondo said the DC, Ms Kula Hache, had recorded a statement and would be prosecuted.
Ms Hache was summoned to Wang’uru Police Station on Friday evening, where she recorded her statement and was questioned for several hours by Mr Fondo.
She was then allowed to leave and now awaits to appear in court. Mr Fondo said the DC would be charged soon after P3 forms were filled by a medical staff who examined and treated the 13-year-old boy.
The boy was among a group demonstrating against the DC over failure to stop alleged grabbing of 25 acres belonging to Ngurubani Primary School.
