Kabianga Boys’ now recaptures lost glory

KABIANGA Boys' High School improved on KCSE by moving from a mean grade of 8.8 in 2010 to 8.9 last year. With 270 candidates in 2011, the school produced 10 As, 43 A minus, 51 B plus, 40 Bs, 62 B minus, 35 C plus, 20 Cs, 8 C minus and one D plus. School principal Harlly Langat attributed the achievement to handwork, both students and teachers, political goodwill and cooperation from parents.
''The school has always made sure the students, right from Form One to Form Four, cover the syllabus in second term with the last term being used for revision,'' said Langat. Speaking to reporters at the school yesterday, Langat said the school has a shortage of teachers and staff houses. ''Due to the increase in children joining Form One each year, the school has been forced to hire private teachers since those employed by the Teachers Service Commission cannot not cope with teaching work load.''
Langat appealed to Ministry of education to assist by facilitating for construction of more dormitories and classroom to enable the school operate in strenuous situation currently facing the school. With a population of 1,220 students,the school in understaffed and needs more teachers if the school has to continue ibn improving the mean grade each year.
In readiness to improve this years results, Langat said the had extended learning hours where student will from now hence forth wake up at 5 am dawn and break at 8am in the morning. In evening, Langat said the students will be in class from 8PM to 10 PM so they the could cover the syllabus and be in a position to get revision time before sitting for the national exams. Already Langat said form threes had covered the syllabus and are now on form Four syllabus
