Share/Save/Bookmark Internal Security Minister George Saitoti over the weekend reaffirmed that he is still in the 2012 presidential race asserting that he is the most qualified politician amongst Kenyan leaders. Saitoti said he is ready to face his opponents in the G7 Alliance in a joint nomination, where he vowed to beat them all.
Speaking during a funds drive in Nyahururu Anglican Church of Kenya cathedral, the minister said he is best placed to succeed President Kibaki due to his experience as Vice President for 13 years. He said President Kibaki's development record will only be carried forward if Kenyans vote in a development conscious leader. "There is a dire need for Kenyans to elect a leader who would continue with the good work that President Kibaki's administration had initiated," said Saitoti.
The minister said he has never been involved in corrupt activities thus his name is not tainted. "I believe that I have all the qualities that a leader who is fit to succeed President Kibaki can have. I have served in the government for a long time and my name has never been mentioned in poor governance either," he said.
Saitoti was accompanied by Ol Kalou MP Erastus Mureithi and former Starehe MP Maina Kamanda. Ol Kalou MP Erastus Mureithi said that it was now time that Kenyans should focus on leaders who had the goodwill of the people and the country at large.
Mureithi said leaders should be judged on their development record when it comes to electing them in next years elections. Kamanda, who is the PNU secretary general, supported the move by G7 Alliance members to have a joint nomination so that a fair candidate can win the Presidency.
