Reports that the pipes installed by the Kenya Pipeline Company for its Line Four between Nairobi and Malaba have started rusting has sent a senior manager into a tizzy. The manager who reportedly was involved in the purchase of the pipes from India is in a panic after the Energy ministry indicated it would take action against those involved. The manager is worried that he will become the fall guy for the purchase even though the final decision involved many senior people at the Kenya Pipeline Company and the ministry.

Political realignments are common ahead of any general election. Some Nairobi politicians — mainly those drawn from Eastlands — are toying with the idea of ensuring that all major elective seats in Nairobi county are taken by people from that area irrespective of political and party affiliations. According to their tentative plan, Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu will vie as governor of the city, Makadara MP Mike Mbuvi Sonko will vie for senator while mayor George Aladwa will vie for the Makadara parliamentary seat. Former Makadara MP Dickson Wathika will relocate and vie for the Mukurweini seat in Nyeri.

A Nairobi businessman-politician has been evading tax to the Kenya Revenue Authority by selling vehicles in transit. He was overheard bragging how he managed to hide three top-of-the-range vehicles in Ngara recently. The man claimed that when the KRA got wind of this, they sent their investigators but he was able to "persuade" them not to pursue their investigations.

An MP from Central Kenya who has not been averse to showing off his wealth and who has always been linked to the small and elite club of high-flying Kenyans is reportedly having to struggle financially. The  man's businesses have not been performing well and he has been borrowing from his wealthy associates just so he can keep up appearances.
