THE camp allied to Heritage minister William ole Ntimama yesterday won all the seats in the Narok town council elections. Incumbent chairman Isaac Partoip retained his seat unopposed in the elections presided over by town clerk Godfry Kwena held at the council’s chambers. Partoip is the councillor for Olopito.
The vice chairman seat went to Ereteti councillor Sakamo Ololosikan who was re-elected unopposed. The committee chairpersons voted in are Dennis ole Naisho of finance, Doyopai Kudate of forest and environment, Nepatao Kimorgo of town planning, markets and public health, Patiyie Naikumi  of education, social services and children, Mary Mwaniki of HIV/Aids awareness and Kosiom Kuyioni of Audit.
In the Narok County Council elections held last week, the camp allied to Ntimama was trounced. Joseph ole Nkadado of ODM was elected as chairman after beating Ntimama’s Reuben ole Kirampa by 27 to 21 votes. Nkadado, the Ongata Naado councillor replaced the outgoing chairman Solomon ole Moriaso who stepped down as he had served two terms.
In his acceptance speech, Partoip promised locals that the council will address the plights affecting them. “Let me thank you councillors for having faith in me to retain the seat. My appeal to the civic leaders is to unite and put aside political differences for the benefit of the locals,” Partoip said.
He said the council will soon construct a sewerage system in town. “We have talked to engineers from the United States and they will carry feasibility studies in the region. Already we have signed an agreement with four cities in the US and this will really assist us as the town was recently voted the most friendly in the world,” said Partoip. He said the council will build a modern slaughterhouse with the capacity to accommodate more than 1,000 cows, instead of ferrying them to Kenya Meat Commission in Athi River.
