UK’s Minister for Africa visits Kenya

Minister for Africa Henry Bellingham arrived in Kenya, during his 10 day visit to Africa promoting British interest
Kenya is determined to pursue the national reforms agenda despite the few challenges facing the process particularly in the implementation of the new Constitution, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has said.
Mr. Musyoka assured that everything possible will be done to ensure success in the implementation of the new constitution.
"We are all keen in having judicial officials in their respective offices to pave way for other reform issues in the judiciary, when we have credible judicial system we know the rest of the world will have confidence in us and even consider our  request for deferral of the Kenya  case at the ICC,' he said.
He said parliament was dealing with hiccups impeding the House committee on legal affairs to enable it resume business as soon as possible,"
The Vice President was speaking at his Jogoo House Office on Monday when he met with the British Minister for Africa, Mr. Henry Bellingham, who paid him courtesy call.
Mr. Musyoka hailed the existing cordial relationship existing between Kenya and the Britain terming it historical.
He, however, said there is need to further strengthen the bilateral ties, particularly in areas of trade and investment.
"Britain is one of Kenya's leading partners in trade and development, last year we were able to export to Britain goods worth close to Kshs. 40billion and imported about Kshs. 37billion worth of goods," VP noted.
The British Minister said his country is interested in Kenya's reform process and was keenly following the happenings in the country.
Mr. Bellingham assured that Britain will not in any way interfere with Kenya's reforms agenda but added that with effective institutions of good governance in place the country will reclaim investor confidence.
