A Cabinet minister has urged Makadara MP Gidion Mbuvi to soldier on with the fight against impunity in his constituency.
Nairobi Metropolitan Development minister Njeru Githae said recent action by the youthful MP in public was a demonstration of his distaste to impunity in the country.
The minister added that Mr Mbuvi should not be condemned for trying to make the lives of his constituents better.
The minister said that for impunity in the country to end, there was need for leaders to unite in addressing the vice.
He cited the grabbing of a plot next to the Labour ministry office on Commercial Street by a private developer who has acquired a title deed for it, and the Ministry of Water building on Dunga Road.
Mr Mbuvi said that he would continue to fight for the rights of his constituents even if it meant losing his seat.
The MP further challenged the Local Government ministry to come up with humane measures of evicting traders on road reserves.
Seek dialogue
But acting Nairobi Mayor George Aladwa said the MP should not incite his constituents when aggrieved, but should seek dialogue, instead, to resolve disputes.
They were speaking during the commissioning of rehabilitation works on Bunyala Road, Commercial Street and Aerodrome Road.
