The cutting edge

Shed some light. While he has warmed up to KPLC’s introduction of pre-paid meters to enable customers to manage their accounts and avoid billing complaints, Evans Abila is not convinced the implementation is being done properly. He would like the KPLC to shed some light on the rates. “What is the real cost of prepaid electricity? On May 8, I paid Sh300 for 16.5 units, on May 13, I bought 50.5 units for Sh620, and on May 23, Sh600 could only get me 36.3 units.” His contact is eablla69@gmail.com

Exhausted. For the love of her father, Daniel Gathirwa Mwaniki, who retired from Kenya Railways in 1995, Esther Gathirwa is following up on his pension, which was paid until June 2005. She says the old man has since visited the company’s headquarters in Nairobi on numerous occasions to have the payments resumed, without any luck. “He’s now exhausted both in terms of money and energy. Who will sort out my dad’s problem?” asks Esther. His personal number is C/No 82342 and his contact, Tel 0721853212.

What a stench. For several weeks, a stench has been engulfing a part of Westlands shopping centre, thanks to a broken sewer that is spewing muck flowing down Waiyaki Way, reports Karanga Kimani. “Woe unto you should you drive past with your window rolled down or worse, the car next to yours could splash onto you!” says Karanga, surprised that Nairobi Water Company personnel have so far ignored this eyesore in the upmarket area. Never say die. Some people don’t give up easily. They include Mombasa resident Zainab Essajee, who still hopes Telkom Kenya will restore her landline, No 0412315630, which has been down for, believe it or not, one year. She says she has called the Telkom Kenya office in Mombasa several times and sent reminders but her efforts have not borne fruit. Frustrated, she has thought of giving up, but has not. “This is not how to get this country to progress,” says Zainab, whose contact is zainessajee@yahoo.com

Spurned. This must be American President Barack Obama’s new sequel entitled, Dreams from My Mother, notes David Herbling, adding: “That our very own Obama has now embarked on a journey ‘home’ to find the apostrophe he says he lost somewhere along the way, speaks volumes, backing what contributor Tony Gee said. He’s now O’Bama — and officially Irish — the Moneygall Obama. With that, Kogelo can no longer make claim to him. Where is Brand Kenya? The score now stands at: Ireland 10 – Kenya 0.
Have an overwhelming day, won’t you!

  1. Having read this I thought it was rather enlightening. I appreciate you taking the time
and energy to put this informative article together.

I once again find myself personally spending a lot of
time both reading and posting comments. But so what, it was still worthwhile!
