Divided house. Can branches of the same bank operate under totally different rules and procedures? asks Eric Ayienga. The National Bank’s Wilson Airport branch, Nairobi, he says, would not accept a folded cheque, adding: “The teller advised me to open an account with the bank from which the cheque had originated or have a new one written. But, interestingly, the same cheque was readily accepted at another branch of the same bank.” His contact, if management wishes to talk to him, is erma92@gmail.com.

Costly nightmare. Telkom Kenya should fix the problem with the company landlines 651511/12/13, 552702 and 6533184, which Jitu Mandavia says work for only two to three days in a month, “and if we are lucky, for a week”. The nightmare, Jitu adds, has persisted for the past two years, inconveniencing them and yet they pay the standing charges. “A senior officer promised he would deal with the matter. That was four weeks ago. Every time we call the Telkom MD, we are referred to another office.” His contact is jitu@panesar.co.ke.

Futile mission. Interconsult Engineers Ltd’s Kariuki Muchemi says Telkom Kenya should restore their landlines, numbers 4441651 and 4441647, which have been out of order since last year, despite daily visits to their offices on Peponi Road, Nairobi. To add insult to injury, No. 4441647 appears to have been diverted to a business on Riverside Drive, whose owners are livid. “How I wish this could attract more players, just like the mobile phone sector!” His more reliable contact is Tel 0722511359 or muchemi@iel.co.ke.

Roads eyesore. M.K. Adalja is disappointed that the rehabilitation of East Church Road at Westlands, Nairobi, which started three weeks ago, causing excitement, appears to have stalled. All one sees today are piles of stones on either side of the road. He asks: “Are the workers being paid for doing nothing? Also in a pathetic state are Church, Lantana, Sports, and Jalaram roads. There is also a collection of craters at the Sarit Centre roundabout. What do we pay rates for?” His contact is mahendramedicaf@yahoo.co.uk.

Stinking shame. The Nairobi Water Company should send technicians to Sunrise Phase 2 estate at Doonholm, Nairobi, before Manasseh Wepundi organises a rowing protest on a huge pool muck from a broken sewer. The residents, he says, have put up with the stench for too long, and it has just got worse, thanks to the current heavy rains. “Should we get our children paddling boats in this new river full of excrement to force the water firm to fix the recurring problem once and for all?” His contact is wepundi@gmail.com.

Fan wars. What really amuses Samuel Muthamia about Manchester United fans like Jairus Musumba, he says, is their apparent “never-ending obsession with Arsenal”. Responding to Musumba’s mocking of Arsenal fans, Samuel adds: “Can’t they just stick to supporting their club? Arsenal fans have a right to back their favourite club, the long period without a trophy, notwithstanding. And we will continue doing so for many years to come. A true fan is one who sticks by his team through success or failure.”
Have a dedicated day, won’t you!

CORRUPT, ARROGANT, INCOMPETENT ROCKY DRIVING SCHOOL EMBAKASI BRANCH, if you are thinking of enrolling at rocky driving school Embakasi branch, think twice, you will meet an arrogant, disorganized, incompetent secretary called Josephine who will reschedule your paid lessons without informing you, for those who have bribed her for a crash program, on inquiry you will be told to 'jipanga', on complaining you will be told to find a way of attending your lessons at a time you had clearly told her you will not be available, so you will definitely miss several lessons without refund, ROCKY DRIVING SCHOOL - DO YOU HAVE TO BE BRIBED TO DELIVER SERVICES YOU ARE BEING PAID FOR? TOLL STATION AT EMBU DA'S OFFICE
The District Accountant's office has become a toll station where no voucher goes through without paying something and more particularly to the DA himself. He has currently made a list of all departmental heads and instructed his staff that they have to contribute to his Christmas fund for his staff before any payment

very true at the beginning of the year the same DA asked every departmental head to give him two reams of photo copying papers two folders and two note books before processing any voucher and we had to.the office is too corrupt in short despite the fact that all the officers claim to be saved

  11. FRUSTRATED STATE COUNSELS in mass exodus from the state law office.

There has been a mass exodus of state counsels from the state law office since the current sleeping AG's inauguration over a year ago.More than 35 state counsels have left the state law office due to poor working conditions to the slowly but gradually improving judiciary under the caring CJ.
The state counsels and more particularly those in stations work under deplorable conditions no transport means and where there is,it is only one vehicle shared by all departments which leads to uncalled for disputes amongst the Departmental heads, inadequate stationary and office equipments and sometimes they are forced to collect the same from the head office even those which generate income and trainings are a preserve of those in the head office and a few luck ones in the stations.
The officers complaints are always given a deaf ear by the AG who had given heavenly promise to his staff during his inauguration but immediately retired to slumber land in his state of the art Chambers at Sheria House.
There is no working morale in the AG'S office and if no action is taken to end such exodus of the state Counsels the state law office will soon be without state counsels .What is even more frustrating is the amount of money given in the form of A.I.Es which is too little to run a station for three months and it normally comes when the quarter is already over forcing some officers to run the office from their meagre salaries.MR.GITU WAKE UP OR QUIT TO SAVE THE STATE LAW OFFICE" WHAT SHALL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR.
