Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has criticised Prime Minister Raila Odinga for calling on foreign security agencies to investigate the post-election violence.
The VP said it was time Kenyan leaders started having faith in their legally established institutions.
“Our police force has undergone serious reforms and is competent enough to carry out investigations into the violence.
Leaders must have faith in it,” he said during a fund raiser in aid of Mutithi Girls Secondary School in Kirinyaga County on Saturday.
Mr Musyoka said it was disheartening to note that the Prime Minister had no confidence in the Kenyan police force.
He recollected how the detectives from Scotland Yard came to investigate the death of a tourist, Ms Julie Ward, but failed to establish the killers.
“If our police were given the chance of probing the death of Ms Ward, the killers would have been identified and punished according to the law,” Mr Kalonzo said
He insisted that Kenya has the best institutions.
