By Peter Mutai and Peter AtsiayaThe International Criminal Court (ICC) has rejected financial appeal by Kass FM radio presenter Joshua Sang.
Sang said ICC declined his request of financial support to enable him travel to The Hague, Netherlands this week.
He said ICC notified him last Friday in a letter that his request could not be honoured because Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party had offered to hire lawyers for him and two other members.
“I have received a letter from the ICC stating that they will not grant me financial support as per my request saying that ODM has already offered to hire lawyers for me,” Sang said during prayers that were held in Bomet town at the weekend for the ‘Ocampo Six’.
He said the court also stated that he had been assisted by his friends who organised a funds drive that raised more than Sh3 million to enable him travel to The Hague this week.
Undergone operationThe interdenominational prayers held at Bomet Stadium and organised by various churches from the entire South Rift region was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and suspended Higher Education Minister William Ruto. Sang dislocated his left arm after he fell from his car when he accompanied Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto for a prayer meetings in Bomet County on Saturday.
