Eldoret North MP William Ruto will have to wait a month for the hearing of a case seeking to remove his name from a post-election violence report.
The case was adjourned to March 24 following an application from lawyers.
The MP’s lawyer, Mr Katwa Kigen, could not appear before a three-judge bench hearing the case in Nairobi on Tuesday because he was handling a matter before the Court of Appeal sitting in Nakuru.
In his application, Mr Ruto is seeking to have his name expunged from a document released by the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights.
The suspended Cabinet minister says the report titled “On the Brink of Precipice: A Human Rights Account of Kenya’s Post-2007 Election Violence” mentions him as a participant in the violence based on arbitrary findings. He wants the report by human rights agency quashed.
The report was part of the material scrutinised by the Waki Commission that compiled a list of key suspects.
Mr Ruto is among the six Kenyans named by the International Criminal Court as suspected of being behind post-election violence.
