So who's got the numbers?

It was a show of numbers as the 'Yes' and 'No' teams went to the heartland of their key supporters as the referendum day on the Proposed Constitution drew nearer.

It was also a day when Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who has been away from the campaign trail for over a month, made a big return to the ‘Yes’ team and exuded confidence the draft will pass.

Last week, The Standard exclusively reported that the Prime Minister would return to the campaign trail this weekend.

Speakers at both rallies psyched their supporters to come out in large numbers to be counted on the historical vote on Wednesday.

Eldoret and Kisumu towns were splashed with red and green colours as supporters of both sides turned out in their thousands on foot, bicycle, and vehicle.

Thousands of people began walking to Moi Stadium Kisumu and 64 Stadium in Eldoret as early as 8am.

In Kisumu women and youth sang in support of the Proposed Constitution, as others displayed placards saying "Katiba ni sasa" (It’s time for a new constitution).

It was a similar story in Eldoret where banners read, "Reject, Amend and Pass" as groups chanted slogans and sang songs opposing the Proposed Constitution.

President Kibaki welcomed Raila back to join the ‘Yes’ team in the remaining days of campaigning for the new constitution.

The President expressed confidence that the unity of purpose demonstrated by reformist will continue even after passing the new constitution to hasten development.

The ‘No’ team will be at Jamhuri Park and Githurai in Nairobi on Sunday, followed by 10 rallies on Monday while former President Moi will pitch tent in Keroka on Sunday.

President Kibaki will lead the ‘Yes’ campaign rally at Uhuru Park and wind up campaigns on Monday with a rally at Kitui Stadium in the morning and Kirigiti Stadium in Kiambu later.
