All eyes are trained on the crucial Juja by-election set for September 20, as major political parties face-off in yet another bruising battle. Former government Chief Whip George Thuo lost the seat when the High Court annulled his election, following a petition by former area MP William Kabogo.

Mr Thuo got a boost on Sunday after ODM-K, one of the PNU's coalition partners said it will support him, instead of fielding their own candidate.

Acting PNU Chief Whip Johnstone Muthama said the move was meant to solidify unity among PNU affiliate parties ahead of the 2012 general elections. He appealed to Juja electorates to re-elect the former government Chief Whip, dubbing him a wise and talented leader.

The September 20th Juja by-election battle, has boiled down to a PNU vs Narc-K affair . ODM-Kenya will not field candidates in the upcoming by-elections in Juja, Makadara and Starehe. Instead, Mr Muthama disclosed on Sunday, the party will support PNU candidates in the three constituencies.
