Area residents have been living in fear of a water borne disease outbreak since their main water pipe got entangle with the sewer line.

After K24 highlighted the plight of the hundreds of residents of Umoja innercor estate who are undergoing untold suffering due to a sewage system leak, the Nairobi Water and Sewage company was quick to make shift the burden to the City Council of Nairobi, whom they say has failed to enforce its by-laws. The water company says the City Planning department allowed investors to undertake the construction of the houses on top of utility services lines.

A senior techinical officer at the Water company is categorical that the problem can only be solved if the City Council demolishes the said houses.

The situation however has gotten so out of hand, some residents are forced to be creative to gain access their houses.

This is not the first time residents in the area have had a problem with their sewage system. Recently, residents had to do without water for a long period, after their main water line became entangled with sewer line .
