In anticipation of a massive win in the proposed constitution, the green team secretariat Thursday released a press release where they termed the results as a victory for all Kenyans.
The green team is so far leading in provisional results by 5 234 547 against the Red's 2 322 169.
In a statement read by energy minister Kiraitu Murungi who was heading the secretariat, the team welcomed the provisional results that show them leading with a huge margin as a voice of Kenyans.
"Kenyans have spoken," said Murungi adding that Kenya has been reborn.
"A new republic is here, a Kenya that Kenyans have been yearning for," he said.
Murungi said there was need to celebrate the historic moment in Kenya adding that the victory which is yet to be confirmed by the IIEC was for all Kenyans from all walks of life.
He urged the opponents of the proposed new constitution to join hands with the green team to work on the implementation of new constitution.
The minister also lauded President Mwai Kibaki, PM Raila Odinga and VP Kalonzo Musyoka for their vigorous campaigns for the proposed constitution which ensured victory for the team.
Murungi was however quick to point out that there were no winners or losers in the referendum and there was need for Kenyans to embrace one another as the country begins a new chapter under a new constitution that has taken over 20 years to actualize.
President Kibaki, the Prime Minister and Vice President are expected to later Thursday hold a joint press conference to acknowledge the results of the referendum.
Government spokesman Dr Alfred Mutua said the three would be joined by members of the cabinet and other leaders.
The conference is however dependent on the announcement of the final results of the referendum expected Thursday afternoon.
