KIBAKI & RUTO MEET

President Mwai Kibaki Tuesday met and held discussions with members of Parliament from the Central Rift who called on him at his Harambee House Office.

The talks coming ahead of the President's tour of Nakuru Wednesday centered on the development aspirations of the region.

During the talks, President Kibaki reaffirmed the government commitment to addressing insecurity and other related issues that complement peace and harmony among the various ethnic communities living in the Province.

The Head of State assured that the ongoing peace and reconciliation efforts in the Province and other parts of the country would further be intensified by integration of all missing key government institutions.

Legislators from the region urged the government to hasten the revival of infrastructural works and schools that complement peace initiatives in the Laikipia/Samburu/ Pokot East belt under the Ndumisha Amani programme.

The MPs, while appreciating the government reconciliation efforts, called for improved coordination of all the players including the local leaders and NGOs.

The leaders noted that resettlement of the IDPs still in camps and upgrading of roads to promote agriculture and tourism should be a priority.

The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister William Ruto Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet Amb. Francis Muthaura,PS Internal Security Francis Kimemia, MPs Lee Kinyanjui, Luka Kigen, Nderitu Murithi , Nelson Gaichuhe , Joseph kiuna , John Mututho, Asman Kamama and Simon Lesrima among others.
