FIFA President Sepp Blatter was showered with paper money by a protester before the start of a press conference on Monday, July 20th.
The protester, who had a British accent and has been identified by some media as comedian Simon Brodkin, known for playing the character Lee Nelson, threw the paper bills over Blatter.
As Brodkin approached Blatter, he could be heard suggesting that the money was for a North Korean bid for the 2026 World Cup.
Once security guards had removed the protester, Blatter said he was delaying the start of the press conference.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we have to clean here first. Otherwise I will not be able to speak to you ladies and gentlemen when we talk about football. This has nothing to do with football. I will be back in a few moments,” said a clearly rattled Blatter.
He returned around 10 minutes later to address the media.
