Any student who has attained the age of 18 will be paid 300 shillings if they apply and get a National Identity card in Rarieda, area Member of Parliament Nicholas Gumbo has said.
Speaking at a function in Kitambo Secondary School, Gumbo said that the initiative is aimed at motivating the youthful population of Rarieda and the larger Nyanza region to register as voters ahead of the 2017 general election.
The legislator added that Nyanza is the political stronghold of CORD principal Raila Odinga and getting the youth to register ahead of the voting exercise will boost the former PM’s chances of clinching the seat.
He urged locals to be proactive and register in large numbers in order to get their leaders of choice into office.
