One person has died while several others have been injured after a bus belonging to Booker Academy rolled into an escarpment in Nandi Hills on Thursday.
St Johns Ambulance spokesperson Fred Majiwa confirmed that the driver of the bus died while being evacuated to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret for treatment.
Another 19 people, 16 of them students were injured in the accident and have since been admitted to Nandi Hills Hospital.
The Kenya Red Cross has also said that four critically injured students have been transferred to Moi Teaching and Referral hospital in Eldoret.
The bus was travelling to the on-going annual national music festival in Mombasa. It was carrying students and four teachers. They had decided to take a shortcut via the Nandi Hills - Kericho Road.

Macharia said members of the public moved in quickly and pulled out the trapped passengers to safety.
“Most of the passengers suffered fractures due to the impact of being forced out of their bus,” Macharia said.

Another form 3 student Zeenat Wangara said she was having a nap and does not remember what happened.

only saw people getting hold of me from the wreckage …I have suffered
