Has Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno found a new political party? Corridors has learnt that the former minister has identified United Liberal Party (ULP) as the name of his new political outfit. However, the name has been reserved for later registration once a deal is reached with a registered political party he wants to buy. The plan is to change the name of the existing party for ULP and then submit the proceeds to the registrar of political parties for processing. On Wednesday evening, the MP is alleged to have hosted officials from close to 20 small parties at the Jacaranda Hotel in Westlands for a possible working pact after his intentions for an ODM position flopped.

Despite the Jubilee government's stance on media freedom in the country, there is only one minister who has continued to embrace the importance of the media. Education Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi has been steadfast in recognizing the critical role played by the media in his public functions. Recently he said that the country would not have reached its current development record without the media's contribution. Kudos Mr. CS!

A prominent Nairobi High Court judge was among those arrested by the police during the crackdown on drink driving. The judge was arrested on Langata road as he drove home after taking one too many, on the same weekend that a magistrate was also nabbed. Our tipster told Corridors that on realizing the danger and the potential embarrassment, the judge sweet-talked the police out of the dragnet and subsequent ignominy of court appearance. What is not clear though is whether the judge bribed his way out of the situation.

Corridor has been informed that the officers seconded to the Youth Access to Government Procurement Opportunities desk at the Treasury by the Devolution ministry have been having a field day, abdicating their duty and not attending to the many women and youth who flock the desk to have their companies cleared before accessing the 30 per cent of government tenders. Some of the officers have been leaving duty as early as 10am and only referring those seeking help to the website that is unreliable.
