Ford Kenya officials from Trans Nzoia yesterday asked former Justice minister Eugene Wamalwa to desist from attacking Moses Wetang’ula.
The officials asked Wamalwa to respect the luhya unity calls and faulted him for attacking the masterminds of the unity.
Alfayo Muganda, Edward Munabi, Milimo Maina, Ben Mlipuko, Peter Puka and Wilson Kiai told Wamalwa to respect Wetang’ula and leave him alone.
On Wednesday, Wamalwa congratulated High Court judge Francis Gikonyo for nullifying the election of Wetang’ula’s as Bungoma senator.
Wamalwa lashed out at former Speaker Kenneth Marende, former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo for championing for the Luhya unity.
He said they are campaigning for Wetang’ula. Speaking in Kitale town yesterday, the leaders said Wamalwa and Musikari Kombo are behind the failure of Ford Kenya.
Wamalwa has pledged support for Kombo for the Bungoma senatorial seat.
“We understand what ills Kombo did for the Luhya community. We too understand that Wamalwa did not bring the report card to the community after serving as minister and MP," said Muganda.
Milimo termed Wamalwa and Kombo as political brokers and betrayers of the Luhya community. “We want Wamalwa to desist from attacking Wetang’ula. Let him leave Bungoma voters alone because they know whom they will vote for. He is not contesting for anything in Bungoma,” said Milimo.
The officials said Ford Kenya, ODM and all other Cord affiliated parties will ensure Wetang’ula gets back his seat in the December 19 by-election.
Munabi said Wamalwa is interfering with the democratic rights of the people of Bungoma by talking ill about Wetang’ula. “We want to categorically state that Eugene (Wamalwa) features nowhere in the politics of the Luhya community,” he said.
The officials said it is Wamalwa and Kombo who campaigned against Cord in Western region to make Raila Odinga lose votes for their own selfish gains.
