TWO Cord MPs want to introduce Bill to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto who are indicted at the Hague for crimes against humanity.
Opiyo Wandai (Ugunja) and Nicholas Gumbo (Rarieda) said they intend to table the bill in parliament next month to force the two leaders relinquish their positions once their trials begins.
“We are going to use Article 145 of the constitution to impeach the two leaders facing trials at the Hague,” added Wandai saying the interest of two people could not supersede that of over 40 million Kenyans.
The two were speaking yesterday at Sigomere Catholic church during a fundraising meeting which realised over Sh1 million.
Wandai said the appearance of President and his deputy at ICC will create a power vacuum hence the need to form a caretaker administration because the duration of the cases is unknown.

“We cannot assume that the country will run normally when the two are involved in the court proceedings. A contingency measure must be derived with speed to address the matter,” added the Ugunja legislator.
Gumbo said they will mobilise other legislators both in Cord and Jubilee in parliament to ensure the motion receives overwhelming support.
Wandai and Gumbo appealed to fellow legislators to put their political interest aside and help salvage the future of this country.
The Ugunja MP said donors were pulling out of the country because of the fear of the two leaders facing historic cases that no any other country has ever witnessed.
“It is history at the ICC where a sitting president and his deputy are facing serious criminal charges a move that scares potential donors,’ added Wandai.
Others present during the ceremony included Prof Christine Mango(Deputy chairperson of Judicial Service Commission) Siaya County Assembly Members, Andrew Omwende(Sigomere),Joseph Agoko(Sidindi)and Edwin Otieno.
