Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leon was in Kenya for a few weeks as part of a school building charity called Me To We. During Lourdes' trip to the Maasai Mara, she got to explore the tourist attractions in the area, take a sunrise and sunset safari, learn about traditional Maasai culture and take Kiswahili lessons.
Me to We trips are extended to volunteer individuals, families, groups and corporate teams who want the experience of building a school and learning about the joys and challenges of life in developing communities. The trips also act as a way to explore new cultures, discover the beauty of the land, learn about international development first-hand and give back through meaningful volunteer opportunities contributing to Free The Children’s Adopt a Village development model.
One of the fan pages that writes about Lourdes reports that the student volunteers who travelled with her to Maasai Mara had no idea who she was. One said, "What the hell, I’m screaming. Ok. This girl I became friends with in Kenya is Madonna's daughter Lola. And I’m like friends with her and I didn’t know she was Madonna's daughter, Lourdes because she wanted us to call her Lola. I spent three weeks with her and its weird thinking about it now… Still in shock that my friend I spent three weeks in Kenya with is actually Madonnas daughter…like I have her on Facebook and everything."
Another added, "The moment when you find out the girl you spent three weeks with as a super sweet nice friend is actually Madonna’s daughter… :o… Wow…this shows exactly how normal celebrities are! Why can’t everyone see they’re just normal human beings!"
