Kiharu MP wants Raila arrested for defaming Uhuru

Tuesday, August 13, 2013 - 00:00 -- Isaiah Langat
Kiharu MP Irungu Kangatta has called for the arrest of Cord leaders for undermining the government.
Kangatta said Cord leader Raila Odinga’s claims that he won the March 4 general election is defamatory and shows lack of respect for the government.
Speaking to the Star in his office yesterday, the MP said the government should arrest and prosecute Cord leaders.
During a funeral service in Kisii last month, Cord leaders said Uhuru’s administration is vengeful and unlikely to help heal a country which is still divided after the general election.
“Let us not push others, entrench tribalism or discriminate against others because of politics of yesterday,” Raila told the crowd.
Cord leaders said they had lost faith in the polls team and urged all commissioners to “pack up and leave”.
“The IEBC commissioners should pack up and go home because we will do everything to see them leave. If we managed to send Samuel Kivuitu and his team home, who are the current commissioners?” Orengo said.
The leaders said the Jubilee government will collapse in two years. Kangata said the leaders should be prosecuted for their statements. He said Uhuru was democratically-elected. Kangata said the ICC cases have not affected the economy.
