UHURU KENYATTA tells Turkana residents that RELIEF FOOD will be a thing of the past

Friday February 8, 2013 - Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Turkana residents that when he forms the government on March 5th, relief food will be a thing of the past.

Speaking in Turkana County on Thursday, Uhuru said his government will turn the county into an agricultural zone through modern irrigation methods.

He said under his watch, no Kenyan citizens will depend on relief food.

“My government will allocate enough money to enhance irrigation and make Turkana self reliant, just like any other parts of this country,” Uhuru said.

Uhuru, who was accompanied by his running mate William Ruto, said illiteracy levels in Turkana are too high, saying his government will prioritise free education and establish more institutions of higher education in the area.

On his part, Ruto told off Jubilee Alliance rivals who have criticised the alliances recently- launched manifesto.

He said every Kenyan will be guaranteed security unlike now where a number of Kenyans have lost their lives due to insecurity.

Ruto said the Jubilee government will ensure health centres are well equipped and also promised a better pay for striking health workers.
