Gunmen KILL ONE PERSON and injure two near EQUITY BANK, Garissa

Thursday, the 7th of February 2013 -News just in indicates that unknown gunmen a few minutes ago opened fire on innocent members of the public in Garissa, indiscriminately killing one person in the process and injuring two others.

Facts are still sketchy but we understand that the incident happened near the Garissa Equity Bank branch. All the gunmen were able to make a clean break. The injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital.

The incident happened barely a week after a police officer was shot by unknown gunmen at a bus stop in Garissa.

Recent incidents of insecurity have alarmed Garissa residents who say that the police have given up on trying to get the security situation under control.

The incidents of insecurity have been linked to the threat posed by the Al Shabaab terror group in neighbouring Somalia and its sympathizers.
