Don’t elect ICC fugitives UHURU/RUTO, we will get SANCTIONS - CORD leaders

Monday February 11, 2013 - CORD leaders have been warned Kenyans on electing International Criminal Court (ICC) indictees, saying the country will be imposed with economic sanctions that Kenya cannot afford.

Addressing a major rally in Ukunda town, Mombasa County on Sunday, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and Trade Minister Moses Wetangula said electing Deputy  Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto, who have since been indicted by the ICC court, will come with sanctions which will affect avery Kenyan.

“You must know that the International Community says about this country. We must watch carefully because we can’t dismiss what they say as malice. We cannot afford to be isolated by our partners,” Wetangula said.

Wetangula, who started the ICC debate, said Kenyans should elect CORD leaders if they do not want business as usual or maintenance of status quo in government operations.

On the issue of country’s leadership, Wetangula who is also the Ford Kenya Party leader, said time has come for other communities to lead the country, noting that leadership is not just a preserve of two communities.

“Jubilee in the bible is 50 years. We now see that two communities have ruled for those years and now want to do it again. It is unacceptable that after 50 years, people are still living as squatters in their own country with dilapidated roads,”Wetangula said

He exuded confidence that come March 5th Prime Minister Raila Odinga will be the fourth president of Republic of Kenya.
