Big BOOST for RAILA as JIRONGO joins CORD

Monday December 31, 2012 - Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s Presidential bid received a major boost on Saturday, after Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo joined the Coalition for Reform and Democracy (CORD).

Jirongo, who has since quit the Pambazuka alliance, shifted his support to Raila Odinga saying other alliances are full of mistrust and envy.

Jirongo who is the Federal Party leader was persuaded by Trade Minister Moses Wetangula and his wildlife counterpart Dr Noah Wekesa who promised him to join CORD alliance since it is a winning team.

Meanwhile ,Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Eugene Wamalwa  has said    Jirongo’s announcement that he is dissociating with Pambazuka alliance has been caused by their CORD rivals who have been persuading him to do so for a long time.

“You are free to disassociate with me and I wish you well,” emotional Wamalwa said.

This is a big boost for PM’s Presidential bid, since the Luhya vote is now emerging to be a CORD voting bloc.
