Attorney General Githu Muigai has found himself in strange company. His name appears as number 31 in the list of MPs who voted for an extra gratuity bonus during a late night session of Parliament. The 'list of shame' circulating in social media is mischievous to say the least, as Githu was not even in the country when the MPs passed the amended Finance Bill that President Kibaki has rejected. Githu was in Germany attending an international meeting that was widely covered by local and international media. The AG believes the authors of the 'list of shame' are being malicious and spreading a falsehood. He is demanding they pull down the list and issue an unequivocal apology for maligning his name.

Some people in Team Uhuru were not amused by reports that Eldoret North MP William Ruto was in talks with Prime Minister Raila Odinga. A team official called the Star for confirmation of the Tuesday night meeting. Told the meeting actually took place, the man's reaction was: "How can he do this to us? Let us see how far their talks will go!"

A presidential aspirant was salivating at the thought that he would receive Sh100 million to resuscitate his flagging campaign. The man was disappointed when he only received Sh40 million from his backers who expect him to meet the difference. The possibility that he will raid the family coffers to finance his campaign has caused friction among relatives who are afraid their investments will soon be denuded.

Housing minister Soita Shitanda, who ditched his New Ford Kenya party for Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi's United Democratic Forum party, has not been his usual vociferous and boisterous self. The man is reported rethinking his decision to jump ship and is accusing UDF of being dictatorial and lacking direction. Those in the know tell us it is just a matter of time before the minister makes yet another move.
