Prime Minister Raila Odinga yesterday named Eluid Owalo the new head of his presidential secretariat. Owalo replaces James Ongae who has resigned to contest the Kisii county governorship. Until his appointment Owalo was the secretary general of the Friends of Raila lobby group. He is a management consultant specialising in strategy development and implementation.
The PM also appointed writer Ngunjiri Wambugu as the director of political affairs for the campaign and Langat Kipkirui the director of field operations. Langat will be assisted in by Rosemary Kariuki and Wafula Buke. Other appointments are Lilian Dhahabu and Rehema Abdul-Rahman, both who will work in the Communications Department. The PM thanked Ongwae for serving with dedication, diligence and commitment and wished him well in his new venture.
He appealed to Kenyans to plan adequately for the new county positions saying some regions appear to have moved ahead with preparations while others are watching. “Some parts of the country have come up with strategic plans and are vetting hopefuls particularly in the position of governor,” the PM said.
