GEM MP Jakoyo Midiwo has endorsed a former Maseno university don for the Siaya county women representative post. Midiwo said Christine Ombaka is the best candidate among the women who have declared their interest in the position. “I have no doubt in extending my blessings to Ombaka because she has the best qualities of a leader for that position,” added Midiwo.
Ombaka was director of the Gender Training Institute at Maseno. Midiwo was speaking during the burial of his cousin Sylvester Otieno at Mabinju village in Gem at the weekend. The seat has attracted three aspirants, Monica Obura, Emilly Awita and former Bondo university lecturer Phoebe Nyawalo. Midiwo challenged women from Nyanza not to rely on seats allocated for women alone but to vie for other posts perceived to be a preserve for men.
