Venezuela ambassador Olga Fonseca spent her last few hours at her Runda residence with close friends whom she told of threats on her life. The diplomat arrived at her Runda home at around 5 pm on Thursday evening in the company of the second secretary at the Venezuela embassy only identified as Jennifer. They were joined an hour later by Jennifer's husband. The three sat in an open patio  adjacent to the garage. The two women sipped on soft drinks while Jennifer's husband drunk some Johnnie Walker whisky. After a while, the trio ordered for dinner to be delivered from outside. The food was delivered shortly before 7 pm. After dinner, they continued sitting at the patio enjoying their drinks.
According to Jennifer, she said that it was while they were talking that Olga expressed fears that there were people out to kill her.  She also told the couple that she had a feeling that there was someone in the house. To allay the envoy's fears,  Jennifer's husband decided to search the house as well as the compound in case someone was hiding there. He returned and reassured Olga there was no one hiding in the house or compound.
The trio continued drinking until 9.30pm, when Jennifer and her husband left.Olga escorted the couple to their car, continued chatting with them until shortly before 10 pm when they left. The watchmen on duty at the time corroborated this saying Jennifer and her husband left shortly before 10 pm. They said the diplomat entered the house but not before he had asked them whether all the workers in the compound had returned to their quarters.
According to the watchmen, they told Olga that all the workers were home except for one of her drivers— Francis Mwangi— who had yet to return. Mwangi and Kevin Akothe were the ambassador's drivers. After she finished talking with the watchmen, Olga entered the house and locked the doors. Detectives are yet to establish how the killer or killers gained access into the house as neither the front nor rear entrances into the house were broken into. The only doors which had signs of forced entry was the door leading into Olga's bedroom
In his fourth statement recorded since the incident, Olga's driver Mwangi said his boss could have been killled by armed gunmen who raided the home last Friday. The statement contradicts the three other statements that Mwangi has recorded. Mwangi said he returned to his quarters in the embassy residence at about midnight. In one of the earlier statements he recorded, Mwangi said he saw Muhammed Ahmed Mohammed Hassan in the compound the same night.
Curiously, the residence's two guard dogs did not bark when the unnamed attackers invaded the home before they killed the diplomat. One of the cooks has claimed that he saw two people pointing a gun at Mwangi when he arrived home at about midnight on Friday. On Monday, Mwangi recanted his claims that he had seen Mohammed in the ambassador's residence when the gunmen raided. He claimed the attackers came about an hour after he arrived home— 1 pm on Friday night.
Investigators yesterday said they were treating the allegations by Mwangi with suspicion due to their glaring contradictions. Police have since launched a manhunt for Ahmed and have already got a warrant of arrest.
Ahmed reportedly told drivers of the murdered envoy that she had been deported earlier that night, a few hours before she was found murdered. Ahmed is a close friend of Dwight Sagary, the embassy's first secretary who is being held at Gigiri police station in connection with the murder. The two share a house in Runda. Police have established that Ahmed used the car for most of the night before driving to the ambassador's residence just before dawn. He parked the car in the compound and left with the keys.
