Martha Karua. The Gichugu legislator moved a motion in Parliament to discuss the recent spate of violence witnessed in the coastal region including Tana River massacre which claimed over 50 lives.
Parliament put the Government into task Wednesday over the manner in which it responded to the Mombasa unrest after the killing of the radical Muslim Cleric Aboud Rogo on Monday.
The chaos has since left at least three people dead and property of unknown value destroyed.
Legislators trailed their guns at the government following a motion of adjournment moved by Gichugu MP Martha Karua to discuss the recent spate of violence witnessed in the coastal region including Tana River massacre which claimed over 50 lives.
However amid the criticism, the government maintained that it had put its best foot forward in restoring calm in the restive town vowing to use all the machinery in its disposal.
The government has committed funds to pay striking doctors in both Kenyatta National Hospital KNH and Moi Referral Hospitals that has for the last three days seen operations.
In the same parliament, The Medical Services Ministry assured parliament that the government has committed funds to pay striking doctors in both Kenyatta National Hospital [KNH] and Moi Referral Hospitals that has for the last three days seen operations paralyzed.
Medical services assistant minister Kambi Kazungu told parliament that his ministry had subsequently instructed all doctors and other medical personnel to report back to their work stations to alleviate more suffering to those seeking medical services and putting their lives in danger.
Kazungu further said the ministry hasdfurther asked the management of the two health facilities to confirm compliance on the return to work directive.
The strike had been called by the Kenya Medical Pharmacists and Dentists Union to petition the government to implement a return to work formula that ended another industrial action last year.
