Presidential aspirant Mutava Musyimi will choose a female running mate in his bid for State House.
He is the first aspirant to publicy declare his intention to do so.
Mr Musyimi, who plans to run on a Democratic Party (DP) ticket, said this would be a major step in empowering women and ensuring their opinions are heard.
He said he made the decision partly because of women’s numerical strength.
The Gachoka MP, who was speaking in Kisumu on Friday, also declared that his running mate would be from western Kenya.
He accused some leaders of being unreliable.
“I do not blame Kenyans for taking politicians as liars because, for years, they have fallen prey to leaders who promise heaven during campaigns,” he said.
