Kenya's PM blames blast on terrorists

Kenya’s Prime Minister Raila Odinga termed the Monday explosion that went off in the heart of Capital city Nairobi as an act of terror.
An angry Raila was accompanied by a section of top government officials among them, Minister Fred Gumo, MPs Hassan Joho, Ferdinand Waititu and Administrative secretary Abdul Mwasera.  He addressed the media after touring the scene of the blast.
Said Raila: “this is an act of cowardice and all Kenyans must unite against this common enemy.”
Raila said the country must install new technology which will help with surveillance of the Kenyan streets to ensure people and buildings are safe and guarded from criminals who seek to visit terror on innocent Kenyans.
“Kenyans will not surrender to terrorists. You can’t scare us.  These are cowards who want to cause panic among us and do the same with investors.” Raila said.
“Police must step up war on these criminals. We will not spare any resources in fighting back the terrorists.
Last week the PM told parliament that there had been several attacks aimed at the public, police officers, Kenya Defence Forces by the terrorists.
The PM said the government will use all its resources to ensure all citizens were safe within the borders of the country.
His statements appeared to contradict those of the Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere whose preliminary reports appeared to rule out terror attacks using grenades or bombs.
According to Iteere the injuries were not consistent with pellets always dispensed by Improvised Explosive Devices.
The PM sent get well soon messages to the injured in hospitals as condemned the act.
Deputy Prime minister Musalia Mudavadi arrived at the scene shortly after the PM and similarly condemned the attack.
Mudavadi asked Police to ensure those behind the terror attack were brought to book.
Mudavadi encouraged Kenyans to support police fight terrorism by volunteering information.
