Wamalwa assures of impartiality on ICC matters

Wamalwa was appointed Justice Minister last week
Justice Minister Eugene Wamalwa says his affiliation to the G7 alliance will not interfere with his duties.
Wamalwa says as per the constitution he has a right to the party affiliation but clarified that he will not take sides especially on the contentious International Criminal Court process.
"To the extent that it depends on me on ICC matters, I will be guided strictly by the law and will promote justice for both the victims and suspects," he said.
Speaking to journalists in Nairobi on Wednesday, Wamalwa pledged to be fair saying he will be guided by the law and will promote justice for both the victims and the suspects.
"Like all other ministers in the coalition government, I have party affiliation but party affiliation cannot itself be an obstacle to the discharge of duty," he added.
The minister also accused his predecessor Mutula Kilonzo of being impartial on the ICC matters.
On the integrity question of Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto who are facing crimes against humanity charges at ICC, the Saboti legislator claimed that the two are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
He noted that they also have a right to either seek for referral or deferral of their cases.
Kenyans have cast aspersions on his new mandate as Justice Minister following his close association with two ICC suspects  Uhuru and Ruto.
The ICC confirmed cases of crimes against humanity and is set to try Uhuru, Ruto, former Head of Public Service Francis Muthaura and radio journalist Joshua arap Sang.
