Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka on Saturday urged young people to be innovative and create jobs for themselves and their counterparts who are entering the labour market.
Mr Musyoka said developed countries like the United States, Singapore and China rely on their youth for innovations and development.
The Vice-President was speaking at the close of the Round Square International conference at Brookhouse School in Lang’ata, Nairobi.
The one-week conference whose theme was No Existence without Co-existence brought together students from 41 schools from around the globe to discuss youth-related issues.
Democracy and leadership
Among issues discussed were democracy and leadership, especially in Africa.
Mr Musyoka urged the participants to share what they learnt at the conference with their friends.
“By doing so, you will be spreading the messages and experiences to many people that you need to help make this world a better place, since there is no existence without co-existence,” he said.

The Vice-President said co-existence demands that certain sacrifices be made to accommodate one another.
Better place
“Sacrifice is the contribution you must make in your little corner of the world where you live to make the greater world a better place for all of us,” the Vice-President.
He also called on the youth to uphold morality and reject anything that would deter them from realising their goals.
Mr Musyoka emphasised good character, hard work and discipline as pillars for success.
Former Vice-President Moody Awori also attended the function.
