Education permanent secretary James ole Kiyiapi will resign from the public service in two weeks time to concentrate on the presidential race.
Prof Kiyiapi, who made the announcement on Thursday, further said that he will launch his vision and name the political party he will use.
Addressing teachers and pupils during an education day for the Kowen Zone in North Alego location, Siaya District, the PS said Kenya has for a long time denied itself the chance to become a serious nation where leaders uphold integrity, instead of consistently preaching “primitive tribalism”.
He said he was disappointed with the way educated leaders were gathering their tribes during election times, claiming to give them direction.
Tribal alliances
“Tribal chiefs have confused even church leaders, who are supposed to preach peace and give direction to the whole country as one tribe,” he said.
Prof Kiyiapi said he will not participate in any tribal alliances.
“I want a nation where leaders understand the importance of integrity, focus on education of children by employing enough teachers, ensure there is enough food by promoting agriculture and creating jobs for the youth,” he said.

He added: “Let us not compete against fellow Kenyans but against other countries in order to prosper.”
