  • But now ODM says FBI or Scotland Yard should be called in to probe ‘plot’ to assassinate Prime Minister
G7 Alliance leaders have rubbished as propaganda recent claims by some politicians that their lives are in danger.
In reference to allegations by joint Government Chief Whip Jakoyo Midiwo and Imenti Central MP Gitobu Imanyara, the leaders said the claims were fabrications by the politicians to gain political mileage.
Mr Midiwo recently alleged that there was a plot to assassinate Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Mr Imanyara, last week, told Parliament he was abducted by a gang thatdemanded he supports Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidential bid.
But speaking at the Kitale showground during the homecoming party for Justice minister Eugene Wamalwa on Sunday, Mr Kenyatta wondered why his name was dragged into Mr Imanyara’s alleged saga, saying such claims sparked the 2007 post-election violence.
“Politicians should have ideas to tell Kenyans instead of fabricating lies to gain political favours,” he said.
Mr Wamalwa hit out at section of politicians in ODM for attacking the director of public prosecutions, Mr Keriako Tobiko, who ordered that Mr Midiwo be arrested after the police said his claims on the assassination plot were untrue.
The Saboti MP said the country should respect constitutional offices.
“As the Justice minister, I say Mr Midiwo should be arrested as directed by Mr Tobiko for spreading lies, he said.

Dujis MP Aden Duale said the Gem MP should be ready to face the law for spreading lies on issues that are sensitive.
The leaders further accused Mr Imanyara of abusing parliamentary privilege to “falsely” say that gangsters forced him to support Mr Kenyatta.
The G7 members criticised those branding them tribal.
Mr Kenyatta said there was no problem when people converge with members of their communities to highlight key issues affecting them.
Regional Development minister Fred Gumo asked Kenyans to vet political aspirants before voting for them.
And ODM on Sunday demanded that the government hires independent detectives to investigate claims by Mr Midiwo that there was a plot to assassinate Mr Odinga.
Immigration minister Otieno Kajwang’ said Kenyan police were not willing to investigate the claims because among those mentioned were senior officers.
“Let the government invite the FBI or the Scotland Yard to take over investigations instead of issuing threats for the arrest of the Gem MP,” said Mr Kajwang’ in Ndhiwa constituency on Sunday.
