Graffitti warning. The City Council of Nairobi has noted Evans Mburu’s concern about the ‘Ferdinand Waititu for Governor’ graffiti that was recently scrawled on bridges and bypasses on the Thika superhighway, says Omar Abdi, writing on behalf of Town Clerk Philip Kisia. The council’s anti-littering team, he adds, has been instructed to remove the offending writings and has sent a stiff warning to those defacing walls, bus shelters and other public amenities that they will face the music.

Messing up Muthaiga. Nairobi resident Brian Stutchbury is disappointed to note that the City Council of Nairobi has granted permission for a high-density residential estate at the junction of Muthaiga Road and Sergoit Lane. “This is contrary to the life-long style of the green and rather grand suburb that Muthaiga has been for well over 100 years. “Why did the council permit this? It is sad to see Muthaiga degenerate into another characterless suburb,” says Brian, whose contact is tembo@africaoline.co.ke.

China centre appalling. The appalling state of the China Centre on Ngong Road, Nairobi, next to the country’s economic and commercial counsellor’s offices, is giving these otherwise industrious and ingenious people a bad name, remarks Nicanor Sabula. “The Chinese are known worldwide for their exquisite centres and not such rundown places. With the growing Chinese interest in Kenya, can they give us a modern Chinatown in Nairobi?” urges Nicanor, whose contact is nicanorsabula@gmail.com.

Operation linda chama. The increasingly bitter rivalry between Raila Odinga and Musalia Mudavadi for the ODM presidential nomination is worrying Boniface Manyala, who fears that the machinations of the supporters of both men could wreck the party. Boniface is, therefore, keen to rally the members to launch a rescue operation akin to KDF’s ‘Operation Linda Nchi’ campaign in Somalia. “Only Operation Linda Chama will save ODM from disintegration,” concludes Boniface.

Marsabit off air. Without the Safaricom network for the past few days, Marsabit township feels like a place that has been thrust back into the Stone Age, moans A.K. Wanyonyi. A faithful customer for many years, Wanyonyi adds, this is inexcusable as there has not been a word from the service provider. “Imagine we not only have been cut off from our contacts, but our M-Pesa is also kaput,” moans Wanyonyi, whose contact is khaemba.andrew@yahoo.com.

Birds need saving too. The call by Dr Omija TB for the pruning of the tree branches protruding onto the road at the Uhuru Highway section between Nakumatt Mega and the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi just because the birds sitting in the them have messed up his car in the mornings with their droppings doesn’t resonate with Jeremiah Opata. “Let’s protect the environment and the ecosystem for us human beings and the birds and other creatures,” Jeremiah adds.
Have a natural day, won’t you!
