What more can a man ask for? Just days after being appointed assistant minister for Transport, Kisauni MP Ali Hassan Joho is celebrating the birth of a baby girl — Kulthum. Joho posted the good news on his Facebook page. Now, if only he could post a photo of the little one!

The son of a CID senior officer is on the run after he conned scores of people out of millions of shillings in the pretext that he could sell them impounded vehicles parked at the CID headquarters. The man would entice a prospective car buyer to the CID headquarters parking yard where they would view the vehicles and pick the one they want. The man would then take the money and not deliver. The latest victim is a man who paid Sh700,000 and when he failed to get the vehicle, he stormed the CID headquarters where he demanded an immediate arrest. The CID officer had thwarted any attempts to arrest his fugitive son — until he received reports that his son might be shot dead by detectives who are looking for him. It seems the young man has engaged himself in many other crimes too.

A police prosecutor at Ogembo court, Kisii County, is reportedly frustrating the prosecution of rapists and child molesters. Reports say the officer cuts deals with the suspects which eventually lead to their acquittal. The man is so keen to protect his racket that he is always at the police station or at the courts even on days when he is supposed to be off duty or on leave. A cursory check of the records shows a huge discrepancy in the conviction rate in rape and defilement cases he has handled when compared with a fellow prosecutor in another court at the same station!
