KEMRI director Solomon Mpoke said the pill has been tested and proved effective.
Kenyan men may soon start taking family planning pills.
This follows an announcement by the Kenya Medical Research Institute Director (KEMRI) that the pill will soon be introduced in the Kenyan market.
KEMRI director Solomon Mpoke said the pill has been tested and proved effective.
However, Mpoke expressed concern that traditions, religion and acceptability might prove to be a challenge towards the male family method.
Speaking during the launch of ‘Tupange' programme in Nairobi, Mpoke said that the Kenyan population was on the rise and especially in urban towns with mushrooming informal settlements.
He added that the government needs to focus on increasing long term methods especially among the poor and  to strengthen the private sector as a key source of family planning service provider to Kenyans.
He also said that there was need to harness the power of communication between spouses for social change to make family planning a social norm and promote quality and healthier lifestyles for all Kenyans.
