NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 31 – Prime Minister Raila Odinga has challenged other presidential contenders in the coming general polls to declare to Kenyans how they secured their nominations.
He asked them to reveal the methodology their parties used to award them tickets for the presidential race before they criticized the nomination process the Orange Democratic Party wanted to adopt in choosing the flag bearer.
“I want them to tell Kenyans where and when they conducted their nominations before they start meddling in the affairs of other parties?” Odinga posed.
He said ODM was the only credible party that embraced internal democracy and asked party supporters to allow competitive politics.
The premier posed the challenge today in Makadara Constituency when he graced the homecoming party of the Nairobi Mayor George Aladwa.
He also told off former Tourism Minister Najib Balala for insinuation that Odinga was a dictator and insisted his sacking was long overdue after he publicly declared his stand to fight the party from within.
“Tulioana kwa furaha tuwachane kwa furaha (we married in happiness and we just have to part without any hard feelings),” Odinga said.
He also announced plans replicate construction of low cost housing units in Makongeni and Kaloleni estates in the near future to ensure that the living standards of all Kenyans were improved.
Others present during the ceremony were MPs John Pesa, Racheal Shebesh, Nairobi Town Clerk Philip Kisia and the CEO of Mumias Sugar Company Evans Kidero.
The Premier later joined hundreds of football lovers to cheer on the under 20 national women team in their World Cup qualifier match with Tunisia.
