ODM Young Democrats want the security agencies to arrest MPs and anyone else behind a document that claims the UK government is scheming with the ICC to have President Kibaki arrested for the 2007-2008 post-election violence. The youth, who addressed the media at the Orange House yesterday, accused security agencies of remaining silent as MPs peddled the fake document, which demeans their party leader they said. “We are wondering why the security agencies are silent in the face of these forged documents. The perpetrators should be arrested,” said Norman Magaya on behalf of the youth drawn from across the country.
The youth challenged the ICC suspects to respect the law and desist from using the cases as an excuse to incite the public. “The ODM party leader is not responsible for their problems with the ICC. They are the same people who pushed for the ICC when they said we should not be vague on where the trials should be held,” Magaya said.
They warned politicians in the G7 Alliance against using public rallies to spread hate against the Prime Minister and urged religious leaders from being used as puppets by the key suspects. “We agree on the presumption of innocence before being found  guilty, but these right should not be used for propaganda and a scheme to incite the public against the PM,” he said.
The youths supported Raila’s call that the two suspects should be kept away if they cannot operate within the law as they await their trial. The youth urged MPs not to reduce Parliament into a redemption centre for people accused of serious crimes. They urged the youths not to attend the prayer rallies organised by the G7 Alliance, terming them as a forum to hoodwink them into spreading hate in the name of political support.
