Questions are being raised over China’s handling of a Kenyan who died while on a business trip in the Asian country in February, with the family insisting she was denied medication.
Questions and rage
Ms Agnes Maureen Moraa, 37, was buried on Saturday at Isicha in Kitutu-Chache Constituency.
But as the coffin was being lowered, family, friends and loved ones were filled with doubts, questions and rage over her alleged mistreatment by Chinese authorities.
According to family members, the businesswoman died in her hotel room in Quanzhou on February 24 because she was denied treatment at three hospitals. (READ:Rage over Kenyan death in China)
Besides the hotel refusing to help her get medication, Ms Ayieka’s body spent the whole day in the room because the managers refused to help move it to a mortuary.
Her uncle and former DC Peter Ndemo said it was a Kenyan living in China who made arrangements to take the body to a mortuary.
“The Chinese Government did nothing when she fell sick, until she died. They were only present at the mortuary,” Mr Ndemo said.

The Chinese authorities, according to the family, also slammed a Sh1.5 million hospital bill that was to be paid in 15 days, failure to which the body would be disposed off.
Although the family paid the bill, the body was not preserved. The family said it was pursuing the matter to get answers and justice.
“It would be in their best interest to investigate the matter so that the family can see that justice is done; this is inhumane,” Ms Ayieka’s uncle, Information Permanent Secretary Bitange Ndemo said, adding that MPs were considering bringing the matter before Parliament.
Dr Ndemo said the Chinese had indicated they were waiting for details before launching any investigations.
