The secretariat of a leading party has run into financial trouble after spending most of its funds on financing the campaigns of its party leader. Our moles tell us the party has so far spent Sh25 million leaving the coffers nearly dry. Attempts by the secretariat officials to get the refunds from the politician's campaign team have hit a blank. The secretariat only has cash to run its operations until the end of the month. Unless it gets the refund from the politician, the party headquarters may be forced to close its office.

Jimnah Mbaru, who is widely speculated to be in the crowded race for Nairobi governor, had a snafu with university students who shouted him down on Friday night at the Mr and Miss University beauty pageant. Mbaru was quietly invited to address the guests by one of the Sonu officials. What he may or may not have known is that the event was sponsored by his rival for the governor's seat, Town Clerk Philip Kisia. As Mbaru attempted to speak, the students started booing. To his dismay, when he tried to calm them down by shouting the "Yes-we-Can!" clarion call made famous by US President Barack Obama, the students shouted even louder "Yes We Can't!"
